Pranayama is a Sanskrit word. It is made up of two words, Pran (meaning life force particularly breath) and Ayama (meaning to draw out or exhale). It is an important part of yoga and meditation.

Pranayama is basically a breathing exercise wherein one learns to control breath to attain higher level of consciousness.  Our body has several energy channels. When we breathe, the inhaled air regulates all these channels. The amount and quality of air that we breathe and the way it flows through our energy channels determine our state of mind.

I am sure, all of you must have heard that if you feel very angry, you should take slow and longer breaths and it will help to control the anger. Unknowingly, you end up doing a type of pranayama to control your mind and thus anger.

If you breath deeply with air filling your lungs completely, the air or prana level will be high in your body  and its flow will  be  continuous, smooth and steady. As a result, your  mind will remain calm, happy and positive. On the contrary, shallow breathing may fill one with stress, worries, impatience and unnecessary fear.

So, to stay fit and feel calm do pranayama every day.

Healing Thyself

What do you usually do when you feel down and out…too weak and stressed to bounce back with all the effervescence you are usually linked to?

  • Probably, write a personal rant post cursing how unfair life is, people   ruthless, or circumstances simply devastating.

:( Writing is the last thing I can think of. Even if my mind is facing a tornado of negative thoughts, I could very rarely bring myself out to vomit it all on a word document! People tell me that my blog leaves them with a positive and good feeling. How can I defy the essence of my blog and post something like this. So, not writing anything at all suits me well on such black days!

  • Crib and behave badly with people to take out your wrath, frustration and anger.

The idea appeals me. But, I am a person who goes on emotional hibernation and come up with almost a stoic and indifferent attitude towards people, when I feel really frustrated and angry.

I do believe that in state of anger, we end up speaking more than required and may hurt people more than we intend to (though at that moment you might experience a sudden urge to murder people even!). This is a sure shot idea to feel better instantly. I personally don’t go for it as in anger I become very bitter and shoot sharp words! Though, bottling things inside me harms me more and prolongs my healing period, but I can’t help it.

Days when life is unfair

I feel totally disconnected from those  men cawwho think women have gone overboard on liberalization front. I just want to ask, how would men know importance of freedom of choice when they rarely miss it. We realize importance of only those things in life that we miss.

I don’t have any personal grudge against opposite sex and I don’t even mean that men never miss anything in life. This is just a piece of dissatisfied mind after an incident.

And the day came to an end…

The day is going pretty well. It’s quite easy at office today because:

  1. Head office is off. Pongal holiday.
  2. Previous experience on a similar kind of project is coming handy.
  3. I am generally in good mood these days. :)

Sitting in office, many thoughts are buzzing in my mind. I wish to do so much at different levels in life. This tornado of thoughts engulfs my mind when I am feeling really high. (High as in not after a few shots, office timings are still on!) These thoughts fade as soon as I step in the whirlwind of daily life. But, this fadedness never transforms into lack of vision or focus. I get the thoughts back as soon as I step out of my house, all alone, out in the world. Sitting on my seat in office, which has become a comforting place, a second home for me… I am just pondering and analyzing my thoughts, what I got in life and what I didn’t.

Lately, I have been observing that I end up forgetting or not noticing so many things. This could be the side affect of living in my own world parallel to the other world’s co-inhabitants. But, I am not complaining. I like it this way! :P

To life and its highs and lows!
